MISSISSIPPI SISSY: #1

Welcome to the beginning of this adventure of my attempt to record myself performing and reading Mississippi Sissy, my first memoir, in its entirety.  The audiobook is an abridged version.  Honestly, I have never listened to that audiobook  because it was so emotional to record.  It was, however, nominated for a Quill Award for Best Audiobook of the Year back when it first came out.   Other nominees at the time were Amy Sedaris who read her book, I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence; Fannie Flag for reading her novel, Can’t Wait to Get to Heaven; and Will Patton who read the novel, thirteen moons, by Charles Frazier.  The winner was Sissy Spacek for reading Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird. If this sissy had to lose to another Sissy for another book, I can think of no other person or book to whom and to which I would have preferred to lose.

I hope you enjoy these videos.  It’s been a technical task figuring out how to format them to get them loaded on here before I finally figured out I could start a YouTube channel based on sessumsMagazine and read them there and transfer them over here.  I might even do some cooking over there on the YouTube channel for sessumsMagazine.  Click HERE to subscribe to the channel.  Thanks.

And if you want to read along with me and you don’t already have a copy of the book, then HERE is a link where you can get one.

Welcome.

Let’s begin.
